I actually highly support this direction: finding a new source of gasoline or diesel to fuel our cars in the future. The majority of greenhouse gases, as far as I understand, don't come from internal combustion vehicles by a long shot, but instead from energy generation using fossil fuels (coal and natural gas). In the interest of stopping global warming, we need to find renewable sources of electric energy much more than we need to change how our transportation systems work.
